SEVEN LITTLE DUETS was
written in the Summer of 1991. By this time in my life, my
schedule had pretty much confined my writing to the summer, and the most
productive period of the summer was while I was in Flagstaff performing
for the Flagstaff Festival of the Arts.
In 1987, I had written a set
of concert duets, which I enjoyed playing, but I wanted a set that would
be more casual. These duets were meant to be read by friends, or
teacher and student, they were not particularly to be performed in
public. They are typical of the music I was writing at that
time. They are rather neoclassical and contrapuntal, but show a
variety of different approaches.
